Dear One,
At my August retreat, I was reminded how powerful the simple practice of a Wild Wander can be. I’ve taught it many times over the years, on retreat and in online classes. It’s a core practice for me. And yet … how easy it is to forget, until you witness its power through the experience of other people.
I’m returning this evening from my second and last Gaian Soul Retreat. I’m sure I’ll have more to share about it later on. Meanwhile, I hope you can make time this week to go on a Wild Wander.
Wild Wander (Encounter a Nature Being)
There are many ways to interact with Nature. Exercising your body and getting fresh air is essential. Observing the seasonal changes in your neighborhood is an important practice for rooting into the land where you live.
Going out onto the land to connect with a Nature Being is a bit different.
I learned this practice about fifteen years ago from Sheila Bélanger and Anne Hayden of Northwest Soulquest. I’ve taught it on retreat many times and in some of my online courses. It’s a practice you can do any time you want to “go to church,” so to speak — any time you want to pour out your heart to the land and listen for a response.
