Detail, the Unfurlng One. Art by JPC.

Dear One,

I have come to cherish my eyesight more than ever since I’ve been recovering from cataract surgery over the last couple of weeks. It’s been very difficult to read, write, or make art — my favorite things to do. My time on screens is limited, as my vision is quite blurry. One eye in particular is swollen and inflamed. They tell me it will take a bit longer than usual for it to heal.

So I just have a quick post to share with you today as we welcome Spring Equinox on Tuesday, March 19th.

In the Sacred Wheel Oracle (my deck-in-progress), the season of Spring (from the Equinox until May 1st) corresponds to the teen years, that crazy, vibrant, angst-ridden time between childhood and young adulthood. My name for the numinous being that embodies this life stage is the “Unfurling One.” They were inspired in part by young activists like Greta Thunberg, Marley Dias, and X (Emma) González.
